Zaria and Sabon Gari residents praise Governor Uba Sani for infrastructure improvements

Locals in Zaria and Sabon Gari are applauding Governor Uba Sani for new infrastructure projects that have improved access to schools, markets, and hospitals while ending years of isolation for farming communities.

Residents of Zaria and Sabon Gari in Kaduna State are celebrating new road and bridge developments led by Governor Uba Sani. These projects are credited with boosting local agriculture, enhancing daily livelihoods, and providing easier access to essential services like healthcare and schooling.

These sentiments were expressed as Malam Ahmed Maiyaki, the Commissioner for Information and Culture, led a media tour to highlight ongoing state infrastructure. Malam Ibrahim Abubakar, a local farmer, noted that the new Anguwar Jaba–Kakiyayi Bridge solved decades of isolation for his community. Previously, local farmers struggled to move goods or reach fields during the rainy season, a situation many had long accepted as unchangeable.

Other residents, including Shamsudeen Abdullahi, highlighted how the bridge improves safety and connectivity. Students no longer rely on dangerous canoe trips to reach schools, and patients can now reach medical facilities like the Ahmadu Bello University Teaching Hospital without the life-threatening delays experienced in the past. Additionally, residents of Hanwa Low Cost observed that new road links to GRA Zaria have significantly increased local economic activity and property values.

Commissioner Maiyaki explained that these efforts are part of a broader mandate to ensure development reaches every corner of Kaduna State. With over 150 road projects currently spanning 1,345 kilometres across 23 local government areas, the administration views this work as a foundation for economic growth and food security. The commissioner concluded by calling on local citizens to protect these new facilities, stressing that sustainable development requires the active participation of the public to ensure these assets remain viable for the future.
