Authorities have confirmed that two individuals lost their lives after a light aircraft went down in a field located in High Ongar, Essex. The incident involving the two-seat Cessna occurred around 12:30 BST on Tuesday.
Det Ch Supt Morgan Cronin stated that the plane departed from North Weald Airfield for a planned short flight, intended as an aviation experience. The victims have not yet been formally identified, a task which Cronin noted will be handled with care and sensitivity.
The Air Accidents Investigation Branch is currently reviewing the site as part of their ongoing inquiry into the crash. Local law enforcement were alerted to the scene by witnesses who saw the aircraft descend. Investigators remained on-site through Wednesday to collect evidence.
