The Adamawa State Police Command recently detained 33 individuals suspected of various illegal activities, such as armed robbery and narcotics distribution. These arrests occurred during targeted raids on areas known for housing youth gangs referred to as Shila Boys.
SP Suleiman Nguroje, the police spokesperson, stated on Monday that a collaborative effort involving several Divisional Police Officers took place on Saturday, June 27. The operation focused on specific crime hotspots across the Yola South and Girei local government districts, including locations like Yola Market, Mbamoi, and Shagari Phase II.
Officers successfully recovered a variety of items, such as a machete, a knife, several razor blades, and suspected illicit substances including Indian hemp. According to Nguroje, the detainees are currently being processed. Individuals confirmed to be involved in criminal acts will face legal proceedings, while the ongoing investigation aims to link them to other potential offenses.
