The Ogun State Government has officially launched a complimentary health insurance program designed to support the overall wellness of retired citizens. Mrs. Arinola Adetayo, the Permanent Secretary of the Bureau of State Pensions, announced in Abeokuta that this initiative aims to provide retirees with peace of mind and access to high-quality healthcare throughout their retirement.
Starting Monday, June 29, 2026, and running through Friday, July 3, 2026, the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency is conducting registration at various Treasury Cash Offices. Eligible seniors can sign up at sites including the NUP State Secretariat in Abeokuta, the Cathedral Church Hall in Ayetoro, and offices in Ibiade, Ijebu Ode, Ijebu Igbo, Ota, and Sagamu. Mrs. Adetayo urged all pensioners to participate to secure this premium-free coverage.
Dr. Afolabi Dosunmu, Executive Secretary of the Ogun State Health Insurance Agency, stated that the exercise is intended to formalize records for both state and local government retirees. Waheed Oloyede, Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Pensioners in Ogun State, praised the administration for this gesture, noting that it will significantly reduce the financial burden of medical costs for the elderly.
