The Grassroots Movement for Tinubu, an organization within the Ondo State All Progressives Congress, has publicly opposed recent demonstrations concerning the party’s National Assembly candidate list. The group characterized the participation of government officials and cabinet members in these protests as a direct challenge to the authority of the party leadership.
Previously, APC National Chairman Prof. Nentawe Yilwatda and National Secretary Senator Ajibola Basiru submitted a final candidate list to the Independent National Electoral Commission. This official communication followed an appeal committee review that resulted in the replacement of two senatorial candidates and six House of Representatives contenders. The movement stated that these adjustments align with the party’s broader goals of fostering internal democracy and resolving disputes fairly.
Saka Yusuf-Ogunleye, speaking for the group, commended the party’s National Working Committee for its objective handling of these nominations. He also expressed strong disapproval of the actions taken by specific government appointees, including Commissioner for Women Affairs Seun Osamaye. The group urged Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa to restrain his subordinates and mandate that all government staff adhere to the decisions made by the party’s leadership to maintain institutional discipline.
