Senate President Godswill Akpabio recently announced that the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) is now functioning with the same administrative breadth as a full state. This development is largely credited to the efforts of President Bola Tinubu and FCT Minister Nyesom Wike.
Akpabio made these remarks while attending the inauguration of the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road network in Kwali Area Council, an event held in honor of President Tinubu’s third anniversary in office. Acting on behalf of the President, Akpabio noted that the FCT currently boasts its own Head of Service, numerous parastatals, permanent secretaries, and dedicated coordinators for satellite town development.
During his address, the Senate President praised Minister Wike for his performance, noting that the infrastructure improvements are visible. He emphasized that the introduction of these administrative structures allows the FCT to mirror the governance model of a Nigerian state.
