Nyesom Wike, the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, stated on Tuesday that local traditional leaders in Abuja distinguish themselves by not soliciting bribes from contractors. Instead, these leaders actively assist in ensuring that infrastructure projects reach completion for the benefit of local residents.
During the unveiling of the Gomani-Dafa-Yangoji road network in Kwali Area Council, Wike contrasted this behavior with other regions where contractors are frequently pressured for personal gain. He praised the Kwali traditional ruler for his support during the construction of the 43-kilometer project. The roads were officially opened to celebrate the third anniversary of President Bola Tinubu’s administration, with Senate President Godswill Akpabio representing the President at the event.
The Minister highlighted that the project, awarded in November and finished within a year, demonstrates the current administration’s dedication to timely infrastructure delivery. He emphasized that the swift completion was possible through government commitment rather than complex processes, noting that the contractors delivered on their promise to finalize the work within their original timeline.
