PDP Criticizes APC Administration Over Judicial Housing Initiative

The PDP has criticized the APC government for gifting housing to judges, arguing that the practice compromises judicial independence and weakens opposition parties ahead of the 2027 elections.

The Peoples Democratic Party has expressed strong disapproval regarding the current administration’s decision to provide high-end residential quarters and court buildings to senior judicial officials. In a statement released on their official X account, the opposition party argued that these public infrastructure projects, when accompanied by significant political celebration, undermine the perceived impartiality of the judiciary.

The PDP contends that the executive branch is effectively positioning itself as a benefactor to the very judges who oversee major constitutional disputes and election petitions. According to the party, this dynamic compromises judicial neutrality, with the assertion that the executive branch influences those it supports financially. Furthermore, the PDP claimed that recent judicial rulings have frequently destabilized opposition groups, leading to internal fractures and the weakening of dissent as the country looks toward the 2027 general elections.

The party warned that this increasingly close relationship between the executive and the judiciary is manifesting in a series of conflicting court injunctions and flawed rulings across Nigeria, damaging the integrity of the electoral process.
