Following Germany’s exit from the 2026 World Cup, head coach Julian Nagelsmann has stated he does not intend to resign. He noted that the final decision regarding his position rests with the German Football Federation.
Germany’s tournament run concluded following a 1-1 stalemate with Paraguay in the Round of 32, which resulted in a penalty shootout loss. During the shootout, Paraguay’s goalkeeper Orlando Gill saved attempts from Kai Havertz and Nick Woltemade, while Jonathan Tah sent his strike over the crossbar.
Nagelsmann emphasized his willingness to continue his work, noting that he is prepared to honor his contract, which is set to run until 2028. He stated that his tenure depends on the federation’s wishes rather than his own desire to leave.
