ADC Leader Challenges Wike Over Claims Regarding Atiku’s 2027 Presidential Bid

ADC chieftain Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze has condemned FCT Minister Nyesom Wike for claiming he can single-handedly block Atiku Abubakar’s 2027 presidential bid, asserting that the power to choose leaders resides solely with the Nigerian public.

Chief Eze Chukwuemeka Eze, a prominent figure in the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has criticized recent comments by FCT Minister Nyesom Wike. Wike had publicly claimed that former Vice President Atiku Abubakar would not secure the presidency in 2027, boasting that he holds the political influence necessary to block such an ambition. Eze labeled these remarks as arrogant, undemocratic, and disconnected from the reality that no single politician dictates the fate of the Nigerian electorate.

Eze demanded that Wike clarify what he defines as his political structure. He questioned if this structure relies on genuine public support or if it is propped up by the exploitation of state institutions and the intimidation of rivals. The ADC leader noted that current national struggles, such as severe economic hardship and insecurity, have heightened the political awareness of citizens. He argued that the era where a few elite figures could manipulate national outcomes behind closed doors is fading.

Furthermore, Eze reminded the Minister that political power is transitory. He urged Wike to stop engaging in premature political bravado and instead focus on his official responsibilities. According to Eze, the 2027 election will be defined by the collective decision of the people, based on merit and the ability to steer the country toward stability, rather than through threats or propaganda. He concluded by asserting that Nigeria belongs to its citizens, not to any individual who believes they possess a private claim over the nation’s leadership.
