Viral Video Shows Fulani Man Threatening Benue Residents Following MACBAN Chairman’s Murder

A viral video features a man threatening Benue residents following the murder of MACBAN chairman Ardo Risku, prompting widespread calls for a security probe.

An unidentified individual has issued a stern warning, stating that Benue State residents will face consequences for the recent assassination of Alhaji Ardo Risku Mohammed, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and his colleague, Yakubu Isa. The footage, which has spread rapidly online, emerged shortly after the pair was murdered.

Ardo Risku was killed last week while traveling home from a security meeting hosted by the Ohimini Divisional Police Officer to foster dialogue between local farmers and herders. In the recording, the speaker equated the loss of the chairman to the death of a national leader, suggesting his assassination was a grave error. He emphasized that the deceased was instrumental in maintaining regional peace and preventing various conflicts.

While the video has sparked significant public alarm and calls for a thorough security investigation, its authenticity remains unconfirmed. Authorities are currently under pressure from groups like MURIC to identify the attackers, following reports that ten suspects have already been apprehended by police in connection with the crime.
