Road accident in Niger State results in five deaths and eight injuries

A collision between a passenger trailer and a tanker in Niger State’s Agaie area has left five dead and eight hospitalized following a failed overtaking maneuver.

A Sunday traffic accident in the Agaie Local Government Area of Niger State claimed five lives and left eight individuals with major injuries. Hussaini Guregi, the National Emergency Management Agency representative for the area, verified the report.

The collision involved a tanker and a trailer transporting approximately 40 passengers. The trailer was in transit from Gusau, Zamfara State, heading toward Shagamu, Ogun State. Five people perished at the scene, and the wounded were transported to the General Hospital in Agaie for urgent care.

Preliminary investigations suggest the crash occurred when a driver attempted to maneuver around a disabled tanker left on the roadway. This led to a loss of vehicle control. The deceased have been moved to the Agaie General Hospital mortuary, and officials are maintaining an ongoing investigation into the circumstances.
