Abia Police Investigate Abduction of Two Schoolchildren by Tricycle Driver

Abia State police are investigating the disappearance of two students who were kidnapped by a tricycle operator who deceived their classmates into leaving the vehicle to buy fuel.

The Abia State Police Command has officially verified that two students were kidnapped in the Nsulu community of Isiala Ngwa North LGA last week. The incident occurred while the children were walking home from school during rainfall.

A local tricycle driver approached the students and offered them transportation. According to DSP Maureen Chinaka, the Police Public Relations Officer, the driver later pulled over and claimed he had run out of fuel. He handed the older pupils a thousand-naira note and a container, instructing them to purchase gasoline. When the children returned to the roadside, they discovered that both the driver and the two younger students remaining in the vehicle had vanished.

The Isiala Ngwa Divisional Police Officer has confirmed receiving the report, and an investigation is currently underway. Barrah Chiedozie, Chairman of the Umuosu Development Association, also verified the disappearance, noting that the children remain missing as of this weekend.
