The Edo State Police Command has taken two individuals into custody for allegedly manufacturing a kidnapping scenario to secure a ransom of N4 million from the family of one of the suspects. Lucky Alabi, 48, and Taiye Enahoro, 37, hailing from the Uneme Akpama Community, were captured by officers from the Igarra Division based on investigative leads.
ASP Eno Ikioedem, the Police Public Relations Officer, announced the arrests on Sunday. Official reports indicate the scheme began on June 23, 2026, when Enahoro contacted Alabi’s family members to demand the ransom, falsely claiming Alabi had been abducted. Police investigators successfully exposed the ruse, leading to the apprehension of both men on June 26, 2026.
Both men have reportedly admitted to their involvement in the plot and are expected to face legal charges once the official investigation concludes. State Commissioner of Police, Monday Agbonika, issued a stern warning against such fraudulent activities, emphasizing that the police will continue to pursue those responsible for criminal schemes. The command has urged the public to stay alert and report any suspicious behavior to local authorities.
