IPOB accuses Ralph Uwazuruike of trading the Biafra movement for personal gain

IPOB has labeled former MASSOB leader Ralph Uwazuruike a sell-out, alleging he uses anti-Kanu rhetoric to profit from political interests while ignoring the group’s defensive objectives.

The Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) has publicly condemned Ralph Uwazuruike, the former head of the Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign People of Biafra (MASSOB), alleging that he abandoned the Biafran cause in exchange for financial incentives. This accusation was shared in a statement by Mazi Alex Chinonso Omenka, an IPOB unit coordinator, in response to Uwazuruike’s recent demand that Ohanaeze Ndigbo urge Nnamdi Kanu to cease the alleged recruitment of Igbo youth for violent activities.

IPOB dismissed Uwazuruike’s claims as a desperate attempt to gain attention and secure favor from government officials opposed to Biafra. The organization asserted that Uwazuruike, who they characterize as a businessman focused on personal wealth rather than liberation, has no moral standing to criticize the movement. They argue that Kanu remains committed to peaceful advocacy and a referendum, while the Eastern Security Network (ESN) was established solely as a defensive measure against external attacks on their communities.

Furthermore, the group rejected comparisons between their movement and Boko Haram regarding amnesty requests. IPOB maintained that their activities are focused on self-defense and structural reform to ensure the movement’s integrity. According to the statement, the recent organizational shifts led by Kanu from prison are designed to remove disloyal members and strengthen their legal pursuit of sovereignty. IPOB concluded by labeling Uwazuruike a saboteur whose efforts will ultimately fail to hinder their goals.
