MASSOB Urges IPOB to Resolve Internal Conflict and Rejects Supreme Leader Title

MASSOB has asked IPOB to resolve its internal leadership conflict, asserting that the title of Supreme Leader belongs only to God.

The Movement for the Actualization of the Sovereign State of Biafra (MASSOB), led by Uchenna Madu, has called for an end to the ongoing internal disputes within the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB). Spokesperson Edeson Samuel issued a statement emphasizing that these leadership struggles are counterproductive to their shared goals.

Tensions within IPOB escalated after the group’s directorate of state, headed by Chika Edoziem, suspended Nnamdi Kanu, who responded by suspending Edoziem in return. MASSOB has advised both parties to cease their public disagreements and focus on the restoration of Biafra.

Regarding the controversy over leadership titles, MASSOB clarified that no individual holds the title of Supreme Leader. They stated that such a designation is reserved solely for God Almighty, and assuming it serves as an affront to divine authority. Furthermore, the group noted that while they previously recognized Nnamdi Kanu as an arrowhead for the struggle during a 2017 council meeting, he was never formally appointed as a supreme leader.
