South Africa narrowly defeated Bangladesh by four wickets to keep their T20 World Cup semi-final hopes alive while mounting pressure on India.

South Africa narrowly defeated Bangladesh by four wickets in their final group match, successfully putting pressure on India for a semi-final spot in the T20 World Cup. Despite the win, the South African side struggled with the bat while chasing a modest target of 118 at Lord’s.

Captain Laura Wolvaardt was dismissed on the very first delivery of the chase. The team faced further setbacks as wickets continued to fall, leaving them at 59-3 by the halfway mark. Annerie Dercksen provided a steadying hand with 45 runs, but her departure in the 15th over renewed the tension. Ultimately, Chloe Tryon helped guide the team to victory with four balls remaining.

South Africa’s bowling effort proved more consistent. Marizanne Kapp took an early wicket, and despite a resistant 42 from Sobhana Mostary and 32 not out from captain Nigar Sultana, Bangladesh concluded their innings at 117-5. The Proteas now await the result of the match between India and Australia to determine their tournament fate.
