Nigerian screen star Joseph Momodu has officially stepped away from his professional acting career to enlist in the United States Army. Following his move to the U.S. several months ago, he shared the news of his career change on Instagram during the weekend.
Momodu described the enlistment as a long-held personal ambition. He dedicated this commitment to the memory of his father, a former member of the Nigeria Police Force who passed away two decades ago. On April 12, 2026, Momodu noted that he effectively continued his father’s legacy of public service by joining the American armed forces.
Despite experiencing moments of uncertainty during his training, the former actor remained focused on his objective. He is currently stationed at Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri, serving as Specialist J.A. Momodu within the 1st Platoon, Charlie Company of the 3-10, 3rd Battalion, 10th Infantry Regiment. His transition marks him as another addition to a growing list of Nollywood figures, such as Mayowa Dosu and Grace-Charis Bassey, who have entered U.S. military service.
