Ten Suspects Apprehended for Murder of Benue MACBAN Leader Ardo Risku

Benue State police have detained 10 suspects following the fatal attack on MACBAN chairman Ardo Risku Mohammed and Yakubu Isa, marking a major breakthrough in the investigation.

The Benue State Police Command has taken 10 individuals into custody regarding the homicides of Ardo Risku Mohammed, the state chairman of the Miyetti Allah Cattle Breeders Association of Nigeria (MACBAN), and Yakubu Isa. Law enforcement officials conducted strategic operations in Otukpo on the evening of June 27, 2026, which led to these detentions.

Police spokesperson DSP Udeme Edet confirmed the development in a Saturday statement, noting that the arrests represent a pivotal advance in the case. The individuals identified are Titus Thyodenda, Utibe Sam, Owoicho Ameh, Sunday Useni, Sunday Ogbanje, Daniel Raphael, Adokole John, Samuel Ogazi, Agbo Daniel, and Onazi James.

Benue State Commissioner of Police Cletus C.N. Nwadiogbu praised the investigative units for their efficient conduct. He emphasized that the search for additional suspects is active and that the department is dedicated to securing legal accountability for the perpetrators. Commissioner Nwadiogbu urged the public to stay peaceful and continue sharing any relevant information that could support the ongoing legal proceedings.
