Thomas Tuchel has voiced his apprehension regarding England’s depleted right-back options ahead of their upcoming World Cup round-of-32 match. This concern follows an injury to Jarell Quansah during England’s 2-0 win against Panama.
Quansah had stepped in for the injured Reece James but was substituted in the second half after sustaining a suspected ankle sprain. With James also dealing with a hamstring issue and Tino Livramento previously withdrawing from the squad due to a calf problem, Tuchel is left with limited personnel for the position. His remaining choices include Djed Spence and Ezri Konsa.
Following Livramento’s departure, Tuchel chose to bring in Trevoh Chalobah instead of selecting a dedicated right-back replacement. Regarding the status of his injured players, the coach admitted that both James and Quansah face a difficult recovery timeline before the next game in Atlanta. Tuchel emphasized that while the situation is concerning, he remains focused on finding effective solutions for the team.
