Ousmane Dembele secures hat-trick as France dominates Norway in World Cup

Ousmane Dembele scored a rapid first-half hat-trick to lead France to a 4-1 win over Norway, securing a perfect group stage finish for the French team.

France wrapped up their Group I campaign with a commanding 4-1 victory against a heavily rotated Norway side at Gillette Stadium. Ousmane Dembele was the star of the match, netting an early hat-trick that places him among the most prolific performers in the tournament’s history. Dembele opened his account in the seventh minute, added a second shortly after, and completed his three-goal haul by the 32nd minute. The PSG forward now boasts four goals in the 2026 World Cup.

The victory ensures France finishes at the top of their group with a perfect nine points and 10 goals scored across three matches. Despite missing coach Didier Deschamps, who was away for a family bereavement, Les Bleus controlled the game. Desire Doue added a final goal in stoppage time to seal the win.

Norway had already qualified for the knockout stages before kickoff, leading coach Stale Solbakken to bench stars like Erling Haaland, Martin Odegaard, and Alexander Sorloth. Jorgen Strand Larsen missed a penalty opportunity for Norway, while Thelo Aasgaard provided the team’s lone goal. France will advance to a round-of-32 match at MetLife Stadium next Tuesday, while Norway faces the Ivory Coast in Dallas.
