Shamsuddeen Bala Mohammed, son of the Bauchi State Governor, has formally requested that his father prioritize the settlement of unpaid gratuities for retired civil servants. Through a social media statement titled “Bridging the Gap: A Call for a Human-Capital Focused Policy,” he addressed the current financial struggles faced by former employees.
While Shamsuddeen praised the administration for its significant infrastructure progress—noting that the new schools, roads, and healthcare facilities will leave a lasting legacy for the state—he argued that physical development is not enough. He pointed out that many households are enduring severe economic strain while waiting for their long-overdue government payments.
The governor’s son emphasized that despite the importance of public works, the immediate need for daily survival and the distress of families waiting for their benefits must be addressed. He concluded by calling for a shift in policy focus to better support the state’s retired workforce.
