Soldiers from Operation HADIN KAI successfully liberated 53 individuals after breaking up a roadblock set up by suspected Boko Haram or ISWAP fighters on the Buratai–Kamuya road in Borno’s Biu Local Government Area. Captain Mohammed Goni, the Acting Military Information Officer for the Joint Task Force in the North-East, announced the success on Friday in Maiduguri.
The mission occurred on Wednesday, executed by the 135 Special Forces Battalion. Surveillance equipment in Dutse Kura alerted the military to the illegal roadblock, triggering a rapid deployment of a Quick Reaction Force. Following a short battle, the insurgents retreated toward the Mangari–Dora region.
Alongside the 53 hostages, the military reclaimed eight vehicles the militants had previously taken. The rescued people and recovered assets were transported to Buratai for medical checks and processing. Captain Goni praised the troops for their efficiency and encouraged local residents to keep reporting suspicious activities to maintain security across the region.
