Suspected kidnappers have abducted two farmers in the Parubber region of Ile-Oluji/Okeigbo Local Government Area, Ondo State. The victims were seized while tending to their crops and subsequently dragged into the forest.
Pastor Yemi Omowale, a piggery owner who managed to flee the assault, stated that the armed attackers carried AK-47 rifles and machetes. He noted that the captors have since contacted the spouse of one victim, insisting on a payment of N100 million for their safe return.
Omowale reported that the situation has been brought to the attention of both the police and the Amotekun Corps. The kidnappers continue to pressure the victims’ families regarding the ransom status. Local residents are calling on government authorities and security forces to expedite a rescue mission to bring the victims home safely.
Jimoh Abayomi, spokesperson for the Ondo State Police Command, confirmed that a collaborative search effort is underway. A task force consisting of the Anti-Kidnapping Squad, local vigilantes, and hunters has been deployed to the area to locate the hostages.
