The Ogun State Police Command has apprehended three men accused of murdering retired OGTV presenter Kitan Oyesiku and her 38-year-old security guard, Pelumi Adetayo. The victims were found dead last Saturday at Oyesiku’s home in the Kobape area of Abeokuta.
Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed that the guard was located in the security building, while Oyesiku was discovered inside her residence. The suspects were identified as Sodeinde Olajuwon Phillip, 22, Sakirudeen Abdulraheem Ayoola, 27, and Sobu Obafunsho, 36. Sodeinde, who previously worked as Oyesiku’s guard, allegedly organized the attack.
Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni stated that Sodeinde frequently harassed the former broadcaster for money after his employment ended. During interrogation, Sodeinde admitted to the murders, claiming he wanted to teach his former employer a lesson due to long-standing grievances. Authorities successfully tracked and recovered Oyesiku’s missing Lexus RX 330, which had been hidden near Sodeinde’s home.
Investigation efforts, including forensic analysis of a handwritten note left at the scene, led to the arrests. The group reportedly subdued the security guard first to enter the property. Police recovered several items, including a hammer and a cutlass, as part of the ongoing investigation. The Ogun State Council of the Nigeria Union of Journalists has commended the police for their swift action in identifying the perpetrators.
