Oscar Onley to miss Tour de France due to shoulder injury

Scottish cyclist Oscar Onley is set to miss the Tour de France after suffering a significant shoulder injury during a recent race in France.

Scottish cyclist Oscar Onley will miss the upcoming Tour de France following a severe shoulder injury. His team, Netcompany-Ineos, confirmed that the 23-year-old athlete was injured during a crash on the sixth stage of the Tour Auvergne-Rhone-Alpes.

Initial assessments suggested a simple dislocation, but subsequent medical examinations identified the damage as a significant shoulder injury. Onley, who matched the historic record for a Scottish rider by placing fourth in last year’s Tour de France, expressed his disappointment at being unable to participate. He is currently prioritizing recovery and remains committed to salvaging his performance for the remainder of the season.

Netcompany-Ineos noted that Onley has already commenced a rehabilitation program and is showing positive signs of improvement. The Tour de France is scheduled to commence in Barcelona on July 4, concluding in Paris on July 26.
