A joint security mission involving Sector 5 of the Joint Task Force South-East Operation UDO KA has killed three members of the Indigenous People of Biafra and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network. The Nigerian Army announced on Wednesday that the operation was launched following reliable intelligence reports regarding the group’s activities.
The individuals were reportedly disguised in military and police uniforms to carry out acts of violence. Acting on tips, security personnel tracked the suspects to the Ogboji–Ajali region of Orumba South Local Government Area on June 23, 2026. The militants were intercepted while traveling in a white Toyota Sienna, which resulted in a brief but intense gun battle.
Upon securing the area, troops recovered a significant cache of weaponry, including two AK-47 rifles, a PKM machine gun, various ammunition rounds, and four improvised explosive devices. Additionally, soldiers seized communication gear, a laptop, and documents related to the group’s identity and financial records.
