Ogun Police Neutralize Two Kidnappers, Recover N2.2m and Weapon

Ogun State police officers killed two kidnappers and rescued a victim following a shootout, while recovering N2.2 million and a firearm.

Members of the Ogun State Police Command’s Anti-Kidnapping Unit successfully rescued an abducted individual and neutralized two suspected kidnappers. Police spokesperson DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi confirmed the operation on Wednesday, noting that the victim was seized on June 11, 2026, in Ogbe Village, Obafemi-Owode.

Upon receiving the report, police deployed tactical resources and intelligence to track the criminals. The victim was released safely on June 18, 2026. Following this, officers located the gang’s hideout. The suspects initiated a shootout, leading to the death of two kidnappers, while others escaped with injuries. Authorities recovered a single-barrel gun, a mobile phone, an expended cartridge, and N2.2 million in cash suspected to be crime proceeds.

Commissioner of Police Bode Ojajuni praised the unit for their professionalism and courage. He emphasized that the state remains committed to using intelligence-led strategies to combat crime and ensure the safety of all residents. The command is currently searching for the remaining gang members who fled the scene.
