Garba Maidoki, the senator for Kebbi South, revealed that his decision to enter the political arena was driven by the persistent safety issues plaguing his constituency. During an appearance on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, he explained that he initially had no political ambitions but felt compelled to act due to the ongoing instability in his home region.
Maidoki recently transitioned from the All Progressives Congress to the African Democratic Congress. This move follows internal conflicts within the ruling party regarding the outcome of primary elections in Kebbi State. Regarding his motivation, he stated that after exhausting local community defense efforts, he realized that leveraging the electoral process was a more effective strategy than relying on armed resistance.
