Chelsea reach 50 million euro agreement for Atalanta defender Palestra

Chelsea have secured a 50 million euro deal for Atalanta’s Palestra, beating out interest from Inter Milan under the guidance of Xabi Alonso.

Chelsea have finalized a 50 million euro agreement with Atalanta to acquire Palestra. Although Inter Milan anticipated securing the player, Chelsea successfully intervened to redirect the transfer. The club’s new manager, Xabi Alonso, is considered instrumental in the move. Alonso considers the 21-year-old a flexible full-back capable of playing on either flank, which aligns with his strategy to strengthen the team for the upcoming season at Stamford Bridge.

Palestra is eager to join Chelsea and is currently discussing the details of his personal contract. While Inter Milan could not compete with Chelsea’s salary offer, the player remains comfortable within the club’s performance-based pay framework. Before finalizing this deal, representatives had also approached Arsenal and Liverpool as they sought a potential move to the Premier League this summer.
