Sani Shinkafi Requests Police Probe into Bello Matawalle’s Educational Credentials

Former APGA secretary Sani Shinkafi has petitioned the police to investigate the legitimacy of educational certificates submitted by Defence Minister Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

Dr. Sani Abdullahi Shinkafi, the former National Secretary of APGA, has formally asked Inspector-General of Police Tunji Disu to launch an inquiry into the 2018 NECO certificate presented to INEC by Minister of State for Defence, Bello Mohammed Matawalle.

As the Executive Director of the Patriots for the Advancement of Peace and Social Development, Shinkafi argues that the June 2018 NECO SSCE result provided during the 2023 election cycle raises red flags. The petition highlights that the exam is typically for active secondary students, making it suspicious that a former member of the House of Representatives would take it while preparing for his 2019 gubernatorial run.

The inquiry also probes an earlier 1985 vocational result from Bunza, citing a 2018 Federal Ministry of Education letter that deemed the document non-equivalent to a standard Senior School Certificate. Furthermore, the petition requests a verification of Matawalle’s alleged enrollment at Yaba College of Technology, noting a lack of clear course or attendance details in official filings.

Shinkafi asserts that these inconsistencies touch upon the constitutional requirements for holding elective office. He has provided supporting documentation to the police, including INEC forms and ministry records, insisting that the matter must be investigated to maintain public accountability.
