Nigeria secures approval for 63 presidential ambassadorial appointments

The Nigerian government has confirmed that 63 of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s 69 ambassadorial appointees have received host nation approval, with the remaining six awaiting clearance.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has seen 63 of his ambassadorial appointments formally approved by host nations, with clearance for six remaining envoys still pending. This update was shared by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs on Tuesday, confirming that the receipt of these agréments validates the diplomats as official representatives of Nigeria.

Ambassador Sola Enikanolaiye, the Honourable Minister of State for Foreign Affairs, recently handed over Letters of Credence to the designees assigned to Egypt, Kenya, Trinidad and Tobago, and Equatorial Guinea. This action followed the formal acceptance from these nations.

These four individuals are part of a larger group of 69 appointees selected by the President. To date, 63 countries—including India and South Africa—have granted approval, allowing many of the designated ambassadors to begin their service abroad. The Ministry expressed confidence that the remaining host nations will soon finalize their clearances to help strengthen diplomatic ties with Nigeria.
