Alhaji Muhammadu Besse, the former leader of the All Progressives Congress in Kebbi State, has reportedly died while being held by armed bandits. News of his passing surfaced on Tuesday through a post on X by Bakatsine, a journalist covering regional security issues in North-West Nigeria.
Previously, graphic footage circulated showing Besse and a colleague suffering abuse from captors within the Birnin Gwari forest. Bakatsine confirmed that both individuals featured in the clips have died in captivity, never returning to their families. This development underscores the ongoing security challenges affecting northern Nigeria.
The journalist expressed condolences for the loss, noting the profound grief left for the victims’ families. The situation continues to highlight the severe risks faced by residents due to the persistent threat of banditry in the region.
