Ambrose Alli University rescinds professorial promotion of Dr. Edomwonyi Omon Edwin

Ambrose Alli University has revoked Dr. Edomwonyi Omon Edwin’s professorial rank, citing a serious violation of staff regulations.

Ambrose Alli University in Ekpoma, Edo State, has officially revoked the professorial status previously granted to Dr. Edomwonyi Omon Edwin. The institution’s Registrar, Mrs. Oluwayomi Agbebaku, released an announcement confirming the administrative action.

This decision originated from the Governing Council’s 241st regular meeting on March 17, 2026. Dr. Edwin, who served in the Department of Orthopaedics and Traumatology within the Faculty of Clinical Sciences, saw his promotion removed due to what the school described as a major violation of the 2017 Regulations and Schemes Governing Senior Staff.

Following the formal announcement, the university directed Dr. Edwin to cease representing himself as a professor associated with the institution. While Otunba Mike Aladenika, the Head of Information, Protocol, and Public Relations, verified the authenticity of the announcement, the university has not provided specific details regarding the nature of the alleged policy breach.
