New Zealand kept their T20 Women’s World Cup semi-final aspirations alive by defeating Scotland in Bristol. The victory effectively ended Scotland’s tournament run.
Scotland managed 131-7, relying heavily on Darcey Carter. The 21-year-old continued her strong form by scoring an unbeaten 72 from 52 deliveries, featuring eight boundaries and a six. Sarah Bryce added 25 runs, but Melie Kerr dominated the bowling attack with impressive figures of 3-17.
In response, New Zealand faced an early crisis at 26-3, losing both openers to Kathryn Bryce and captain Sophie Devine to Rachel Slater. Izzy Sharp and Brooke Halliday rebuilt the innings, with Sharp scoring 62. Although Sharp was dismissed just before the finish, Maddy Green guided the team to a six-wicket win with 10 balls remaining.
The White Ferns must now win their final group match against England on June 27 and rely on favorable outcomes elsewhere to reach the knockout stage.
