Pierce Charles secures QPR loan following Manchester City transfer

Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pierce Charles has joined Queens Park Rangers on a season-long loan immediately after finalizing his move to Manchester City.

Queens Park Rangers have officially secured Northern Ireland goalkeeper Pierce Charles on a season-long loan deal. This move follows his permanent transfer to Manchester City, where the 20-year-old signed a contract running through 2031.

Charles, who developed through the Manchester City academy before moving to Sheffield Wednesday in 2021, returns to the Championship for the 2026-27 campaign. During his previous stint with the Owls, he made 21 appearances across all competitions in 2025-26, solidifying his role as a starter.

Expressing enthusiasm for the move, Charles highlighted that consistent playing time is essential for his growth at this point in his career. Beyond his club duties, the keeper has been a consistent presence for Northern Ireland, earning 12 senior international caps after progressing through every youth age bracket.
