Niger Police Dismiss Abduction Claims Following Mashegu Attack

Niger State police have clarified that no one was kidnapped during a bandit raid on a police outpost in Zugurma Village.

The Niger State Police Command has officially stated that zero individuals were kidnapped during a recent raid on a police facility in Zugurma Village, located in the Mashegu Local Government Area. Police spokesperson SP Wasiu Abiodun relayed this information to reporters in Minna on Monday.

The event began around 4:30 p.m. last Saturday. Armed suspects initially obstructed the Mokwa–New Bussa Road before targeting the village police station. Abiodun noted that a combined force of security personnel arrived quickly after receiving an emergency alert, which compelled the militants to escape toward Ibbi Forest.

Regarding the reports of missing persons, Abiodun explicitly stated that no abductions took place. He pledged that security forces are actively pursuing the escaped suspects and promised to provide updates as the investigation continues.
