The Abia State Police Command has taken fifteen vehicles into custody and detained fifteen individuals following a crackdown on registration and license plate non-compliance. This initiative follows orders from the Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Disu, and reflects the local command’s effort to improve regional security.
DSP Maureen Chinaka, the official spokesperson for the Abia Police, stated that the operation focused on vehicles that lacked valid registration or displayed number plates that were obscured, altered, or otherwise defaced. Authorities confirmed that fifteen suspects were taken into custody during these operations across the state.
Legal proceedings have already begun for nine of the suspects, who have been charged in court. The remaining cases are currently under review, with the police pledging to pursue prosecution upon the completion of their investigations. The Command praised its officers for their conduct and emphasized that this enforcement is vital for preventing crime and closing security gaps that criminals might use to conceal their identity.
