Afam Victor Ogene Named Spokesperson for 10th House Minority Caucus

The Minority Caucus of the 10th House of Representatives has appointed Afam Victor Ogene, a seasoned legislator and former journalist, as its new spokesperson to manage public communications and oversight responsibilities.

The 10th House of Representatives Minority Caucus has selected Afam Victor Ogene to serve as its primary spokesperson. This decision was formally communicated on Saturday by Minority Leader Fredrick Agbedi, following an agreement reached during a virtual caucus meeting held on Friday, June 19, 2026.

Ogene, who represents the Ogbaru Federal Constituency in Anambra State, leads the Nigeria Democratic Party (NDP) faction within the House. Lawmakers cited his significant legislative background, familiarity with parliamentary protocols, and dedication to democratic ideals as the primary reasons for his appointment.

As a former journalist and a ranking member of the House, Ogene is tasked with managing public outreach and clearly stating the caucus’s stance on national affairs. His duties will focus on enhancing the group’s ability to oversee government operations and hold the executive branch to account. The caucus leadership expects his background in media and editing to improve communication with the public and bolster the role of the National Assembly in maintaining checks and balances. The Minority Caucus has requested that the media and the public provide cooperation as Ogene begins his new responsibilities.
