YCee Explains His Multi-Year Music Hiatus

Nigerian singer YCee has returned to the music industry after a self-imposed hiatus dedicated to personal development and self-discovery.

Nigerian artist Oludemilade Martin Alejo, widely recognized as YCee, recently discussed his prolonged time away from the music industry. In a broadcast with content creator Cater Efe, the musician noted that he stepped back to focus on his own personal growth. He characterized this period as a phase of self-discovery, though he has now officially resumed his musical career. Reflecting on his return, he remarked that he has finally returned from his internal journey.

The performer also clarified the origin of his nickname, Omo Alhaji, noting that his father is a practicing Muslim, though he does not identify with the faith himself. When asked about his spiritual beliefs, YCee stated that he prioritizes love above all else. Before taking this break, YCee was a prominent figure in the Nigerian music circuit, achieving widespread fame with popular tracks such as Jagaban, Juice, and Omo Alhaji.
