Legal developments in the death of Isak Andic
Jonathan Andic, the 43-year-old son of Mango founder Isak Andic, was arrested by Catalan authorities this Tuesday. The arrest is tied to an ongoing inquiry into the death of the 71-year-old retail magnate, who perished in December 2024 after a fall in the Montserrat mountains near Barcelona.
While initial reports characterized the event as an accidental death and closed the file in early 2025, officials later reopened the case. Reports from La Vanguardia suggest that investigators found contradictions in the testimony provided by Jonathan, who was present during the hiking trip. Jonathan has consistently rejected any involvement in the tragedy.
A representative for the family stated that they remain certain of his innocence while he undergoes questioning. Jonathan, who served as vice-chairman following his father’s passing, was taken into custody from his residence and expected to appear before a judge shortly after.
Isak Andic co-founded the Mango fashion empire in 1984. Under his leadership, the brand expanded to include nearly 3,000 stores globally, with his personal wealth valued at approximately $4.5 billion at the time of his passing.
