In cooperation with the Nigerian government, the US Africa Command, known as AFRICOM, executed new military strikes targeting ISIS positions in the northeast of Nigeria.
Announcing the operation on Monday, AFRICOM officials confirmed that no American or Nigerian service members sustained injuries. Intelligence reports verified that the targets were indeed members of the militant organization.
Officials stated that final impact assessments are currently underway. The command emphasized that neutralizing these individuals reduces the terrorist group’s ability to orchestrate threats against the United States and its international allies.
Furthermore, AFRICOM stated it remains dedicated to using its specific resources to assist partners in neutralizing collective security risks.
This initiative follows a previous joint operation, announced by former President Donald Trump, which resulted in the death of Abu-Bilal al-Minuki, the worldwide second-in-command of ISIS.
