US and Nigerian Military Strike Kills Over 20 ISWAP Militants in North-East

Nigerian troops supported by US Africa Command successfully conducted air strikes in the North-East, resulting in the deaths of over 20 ISWAP terrorists near Metele.

Nigerian military forces, working alongside the United States Africa Command, successfully neutralized more than 20 ISWAP fighters during a recent air mission in the North-East. This operation took place near Metele, triggered by intelligence identifying where terrorist groups were gathering.

Major-General Samaila Uba, the Director of Defence Information, confirmed the news on Monday.

He stated that the mission aimed to break up terrorist networks and remove safe zones for militants within the country. The air strikes hit targets where ISIS and ISWAP members had been seen regrouping.

The military leadership classified the operation as a significant victory in their fight against insurgency. Moving forward, the Nigerian Armed Forces intend to maintain close cooperation with US forces to systematically weaken terrorist presence in the North-East.

The military emphasized that its goal is to prevent insurgents from reorganizing and to strip them of their ability to operate, reaffirming a dedication to protecting national sovereignty.
