Businessman Kidnapped, Child Shot in Violent Oyo State Raid

A local entrepreneur was kidnapped in Irawo, located within the Atisbo Local Government Area of Oyo State, during a violent operation that left a 10-year-old girl with gunshot wounds.

Reports indicate the victim, Alhaji Wasiu Aleshinloye, was tracked by assailants from Kraal Market in Ago-Are to his gas station and finally to his home. There, three gunmen took him into custody and transported him to an undisclosed location.

A 10-year-old girl named Modinat Aleshinloye was wounded during the confrontation and required emergency medical care to remove bullet fragments.

Olayinka Ayanlade, the spokesperson for the Oyo State Police, confirmed the Tede Division received a report about the event on May 11, 2026. Authorities have since secured three spent shell casings for ballistic analysis and recovered three caps for forensic testing.

Police have launched an intelligence-led operation to locate the missing businessman and capture those responsible. This kidnapping follows a similar incident from earlier this year, where a trader was seized by masked men near Alakia Road in the Lagelu Local Government Area.
