Ex-Power Minister Saleh Mamman Faces Arrest Warrant Following Bail Revocation in N31bn Fraud Trial
A Federal Capital Territory High Court in Maitama, Abuja, has officially revoked the bail of former Minister of Power, Saleh Mamman. Justice Maryann Anenih issued a bench warrant for his arrest after the former official failed to attend his ongoing N31 billion fraud trial.
Details of the court’s decision were published by the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) on May 11, 2026. Mamman is currently facing nine counts of conspiracy and obtaining money through false pretenses involving over N31 billion.
The former minister has not been seen since May 7, 2026, when he was convicted by Justice James Omotosho in a separate money laundering case involving N33.8 billion.
During the latest hearing, prosecution counsel Rotimi Oyedepo, SAN, informed the court that Mamman was absent without any justification. Oyedepo stressed that the defendant has been avoiding authorities since the warrant was issued by the Federal High Court.
While defense attorney Femi Atteh argued that the prosecution should be responsible for producing the defendant, the court sided with the EFCC.
Justice Anenih revoked Mamman’s bail and ordered that the trial proceed in his absence, citing Section 352 of the Administration of Criminal Justice Act 2015. The case has been adjourned until May 14, 2026.
