The Abia State Police Command confirmed the arrest of several officers after a video capturing alleged misconduct in Uturu surfaced online.

The announcement came on Sunday through a statement from the command’s spokesperson, DSP Maureen Chinaka, acting for Commissioner of Police Danladi Isa.

Authorities stated that they successfully identified and apprehended the officers involved after contacting the complainant.

Commissioner Isa has ordered the State Criminal Investigation Department to conduct a formal inquiry, with promises to share the results once the process is complete.

The leadership emphasized a strict stance against professional negligence and unruly behavior. Commissioner Isa reminded personnel that the force remains dedicated to human rights and civil conduct, echoing the directives issued by the Inspector-General of Police.

The footage in question, filmed in Umuahia, depicts a confrontation at a checkpoint. An officer is seen questioning a driver about his possession of three mobile phones.

When the commuter challenged the officer for not wearing a name tag and attempted to record the scene, the officer dismissed the warning, even challenging the driver to contact the Inspector-General of Police.
