Settlement Talks: EFCC and Cubana Chief Priest Resolve Naira Abuse Charges

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) and entrepreneur Pascal Okechukwu, popularly known as Cubana Chief Priest, have reached an agreement to settle the charges of naira abuse leveled against him outside of the courtroom.

The trial of the socialite proceeded at the Federal High Court in Lagos on Thursday, May 2.

During the proceedings, both parties mutually decided to resolve the matter out of court. Subsequently, the trial was adjourned to June 5 for the hearing of the settlement report.

Earlier revealed that on April 16, the EFCC filed three count charges against Chief Priest for allegedly spraying and tampering with the Naira at events held at Eko Hotel on February 13th, 2024, another event in Lagos in January 2024, and an event in 2020. He was arraigned before Justice Kehinde Ogundare on April 17.

Upon the reading of the charges in court, Chief Priest pleaded not guilty. He was granted bail in the amount of N10 million with two responsible sureties in like sum. It was ordered that the bail conditions must be fulfilled within seven days.
