According to a statement from Lagos State Traffic Management Authority (LASTMA) spokesperson Adebayo Taofiq, the incident occurred when a Volkswagen commercial bus lost control and crashed into a roadside culvert.

Emergency responders from the Lagos State Ambulance Service transported the six injured survivors, including the bus driver, to a medical facility for treatment of various trauma and fractures.

Meanwhile, the Lagos State Environmental Health Monitoring Unit oversaw the recovery of the deceased from the roadway. Authorities confirmed that the accident caused significant disruption along the Gbagada-bound lane while recovery operations were carried out by state officials.
