Six Worshippers Abducted During Midnight Service in Ondo State
Gunmen launched an attack on a Celestial Church in Uso, located within the Owo Local Government Area of Ondo State, kidnapping six congregants.
According to eyewitnesses, the armed intruders stormed the premises during a night vigil held along the Owo–Akure Expressway, sparking chaos before fleeing with their captives.
The Ondo State Police Command confirmed the assault occurred around 12:50 am on Wednesday, February 25, 2026.
Police spokesperson DSP Abayomi Jimoh stated that a joint task force—comprising police officers, the Nigerian Army, and local vigilantes—was immediately deployed to the area to begin a rescue mission.
As of the latest update, security forces have successfully rescued one victim. Furthermore, an individual suspected of serving as an informant for the kidnappers has been apprehended and is currently in custody.
While the search for the remaining five worshippers continues, authorities have appealed to the public for any information that could lead to the arrest of the perpetrators.
