Tennis icon Roger Federer is set to make history as the first member of the sport’s “Big Three” rivals to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame (ITHF).

Federer will be the first of the celebrated trio, which also includes Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal, to receive the honor.

The Swiss great was the first man to reach 20 Grand Slam singles titles, a number since surpassed by Djokovic (24) and Nadal (22). Federer retired in 2022 at the age of 44 with 103 ATP-level titles, placing him second in the Open Era only to Jimmy Connors (109).

The induction ceremony for the Class of 2026 is scheduled for the weekend of August 27-29 next year in Newport, Rhode Island, U.S.

Federer, who is one of only eight men to have completed a Career Grand Slam, was informed of his election at Swiss Tennis, the location where he trained in his youth.

“It’s a tremendous honour to be inducted into the International Tennis Hall of Fame and to stand alongside so many of the game’s great champions,” Federer said. “To be recognised in this way by the sport and by my peers is deeply humbling. I look forward to visiting Newport next August to celebrate this special moment with the tennis community.”
